Penguin Park – Kansas City, Missouri
Penguin Park is a one of a kind park right here in Kansas City!
Penguin Park is famous for its larger than life statues of animals for children to play on and admire, including kangaroos, giraffes, elephants, and of course, penguins! The park opened in 1957, originally part of the Lakewood Greenway. After the massive 25-foot tall penguin statue was installed eight years later, it didn’t take long for the local population to start calling it Penguin Park. It wasn’t until 1998 that the park was officially dubbed Penguin Park.
This park is typically open from 5am to Midnight everyday year round. It also has a shelter that has access to electricity and includes seating for up to 60 people, making it a great venue for birthdays and other events.
Penguin Park even has its own line of merchandise, which includes t-shirts, mugs, hoodies, and even an activity book created and illustrated by an artist based in Kansas City. A portion of all proceeds from merchandise purchases goes to support the maintenance of the park.
